A bit about being a Night Lights volunteer…
- Volunteer opportunities include being a buddy to a child with special needs (child care volunteer) or typically developing siblings, fundraising, blogging, social media, photography, being a site nurse, entertainment, a member of our board of directors, and more.
- Buddies (child care volunteers) do NOT provide therapy of any kind. We have a registered nurse onsite at each event.
- Children who attend Night Lights love hanging out with their “buddy.” In fact, it is one of their favorite parts about Night Lights.
- When you volunteer, you are not only making a difference in the life of a child, but impacting the whole family.
- By committing to a handful of hours one Friday each month, you give parents a break and the chance to refresh.
What does a child care volunteer/buddy do?
- Provide childcare for children ages 4 weeks to 13 years old that have a variety of needs and abilities
- Help with set-up and break-down of supplies, equipment, and check-in table
- Greet families
- Clean up after the event
- Help create a safe and accepting environment for the children and families
- Participate in indoor and outdoor activities with the children
- Complete an update of your experience with the child at the end of the night
Qualifications, volunteers must…
- Possess a passion for making the world a better place for children pass a nationwide background and reference check (for volunteers 18 and older)
- Be 18 or older (14 years old if volunteering with a parent)
- Commit to volunteering 6 months a year (child care volunteer and nurse volunteer position only)
If you have completed your volunteer application and are ready to pay for your background check- you can pay online by credit card, by providing a check to your site director, or mailing the check to Night Lights 13009 S. Parker Road #373 Parker, CO 80134 payable to Night Lights (and put the site you will volunteer at in the memo) :

- Our Board of Directors plays a crucial role in fulfilling our mission for parents in Colorado and eventually nationwide. We make a profound and positive difference in the lives of parents who are caregivers of children with special needs.
- We strive to maintain a diverse Board of Directors that has a variety of skills, experience, and connections, as well as the time, energy, and passion to help us achieve our organization’s strategic goals. Prospective members of Night Lights Board of Directors are elected by the current Night Lights Board of Directors on an as needed basis.
- We welcome interested Board Director candidates to express their interest at any time throughout the year. As Night Lights grows, we will need to increase the number of members on our Board of Directors. Board members meet monthly-sometimes via Zoom and sometimes in person.
