Volunteering at Night Lights

Volunteer opportunities

  • For information on becoming a volunteer nurse (must be an RN) for Night Lights, please contact us via the corporate volunteer interest link below)
  • Become a buddy by providing respite care at a Night Lights event (details below)
  • Night Lights also has volunteer opportunities on the corporate level
    • If you have experience as a photographer, videographer, or website design-please let us know
    • Fundraising committee
      • Help solicit donations for the annual auction
      • Pick up donations
      • Greet guests at the annual gala
      • Help with additional fundraisers (more information coming this winter)

Buddy Volunteer duties include but are not limited to:

  • Helping with set-up and break-down of supplies, equipment, and check-in table
  • Greeting families
  • Cleaning up after the event
  • Help create a safe and accepting environment for the children and families
  • Participating in indoor and outdoor activities with the children
  • Completing an update of your experience with the child at the end of the night
  • Providing childcare for children ages 4 weeks to 13 years old that have a variety of needs and abilities

More About Being a Night Lights Volunteer

  • Members of the community that come from all professions, backgrounds and skill-levels
  • This role does NOT involve providing nursing care or therapy of any kind (therefofre, no experience necessary)
  • Children who attend Night Lights love hanging out with their “buddy.” Your role as a “buddy” impacts not only the child, but the whole family. By committing to a handful of hours one Friday each month, you give parents a break and the chance to refresh. You provide a positive impact by:
    • Giving a parent or caregiver a much-deserved break
    • Becoming part of the Night Lights family which is filled with a diverse group who give selflessly with all of their hearts


The requirements to volunteer are:

  • have a passion for making the world a better place for children
  • pass a nationwide background and reference check
  • be 18 or older (14 years old if volunteering with a parent)
